LINK ENGINE MANAGEMENT / KEITH FIELDS

Link ECU tuning.
Subaru builds to LS swaps.

My Link ECU experience includes a 2004 WRX, an LS-swapped S14 and flex-fuel tuning on David’s 2004 STI. I work around the complete combination: engine, fuel system, sensors and the way the car needs to respond.

FROM MY AWD TUNING WORK

Different platforms. Individual approaches.

Alex’s 2004 Subaru WRX

Documented June 26, 2023: a stock bottom end, an eBay 20G turbo and supporting modifications, tuned on a Link G4X with integrated flex fuel.

LS-swapped Nissan S14

AWD’s December 2, 2024 video credits my Link ECU calibration and highlights improved driving manners alongside the power. This is the part of swap tuning I care about: making the complete combination enjoyable to drive.

David’s 2004 Subaru STI

AWD’s September 24, 2024 archive documents a Link G4X, IAG long block, custom flex-fuel setup, 1050x injectors and a Dom 1.5XTR turbo. The car retained its factory intercooler, with sharp response central to the combination.

These details reflect the combinations described in AWD Tuning’s dated posts. Builds can change over time; a previous result is not a power guarantee for another vehicle.

PCLink and the installed system

Link provides PCLink tuning and log-analysis software. Use the version appropriate to your ECU generation; send the ECU model, firmware and current software details before we start. A Link badge alone does not establish the available inputs, outputs or features.

Flex fuel is a system, not just a sensor

For a flex-fuel project, I review the fuel hardware, sensor connection and available data before agreeing the tuning scope. We need to establish how the installed setup measures and responds to changing fuel composition. A second fixed-fuel map is a different service from flex-fuel calibration.

Link documents modelled and multi-fuel strategies in PCLink. The appropriate strategy depends on your exact ECU and configuration.

Response and usable power

Tell me how the car will be used, including its tires, drivetrain and intended conditions. Transient throttle behavior, boost delivery where applicable and starting quality matter alongside output under load.

Prepare your project details.

I confirm compatibility, measurement requirements, pricing and scope before payment. Standalone work is quoted individually; the $400 Subaru e-tune package does not automatically apply.

Link tuning questions

Can you tune remotely or work with my dyno shop?

Send the facility, location, equipment and project details. I assess the appropriate arrangement before booking. Dyno and worldwide travel sessions are also available by individual quote.

Does a plug-in ECU mean the car is ready to tune?

No. The installed wiring, sensors, mechanical condition and configuration still need to be checked. Include any changes made since the ECU was installed.

Can you work with an existing map?

Send the ECU information, file-access situation and your goals. I confirm whether I can work with the configuration before accepting the job. Do not send passwords in the inquiry.

Can you promise a power figure?

The result depends on the complete vehicle, fuel and conditions. I review your combination rather than promise a number based on another build.
