FROM SETUP TO FINISHED TUNE

One conversation. A clear plan.

1. Send your setup

Tell me about your vehicle, hardware, fuel and goals. I confirm compatibility and whether remote tuning, a dyno session or setup work is the right next step.

2. Agree on the scope

Your quote confirms price, revisions, equipment and licensing. Once approved, I send a QuickBooks invoice. Eligible invoices may offer Affirm; available terms appear at payment.

3. Tune and refine

After payment and receipt of the required information, I send instructions for files, logging and feedback. We work through the agreed revisions using your inquiry reference.

Most custom e-tunes are $400 with eight revisions. A $50 base map is a starting calibration for approved use; follow-up tuning is separate. Standalone work, equipment and unusual combinations are individually quoted.

DELIVERY & REVISIONS

Usually same day.
Within one business day.

Initial map delivery and each agreed tuning revision are usually completed the same business day and will not exceed one business day once everything needed is received.

This turnaround applies to each file delivery or revision, not completion of the entire tuning process. Time spent collecting logs, supplying missing information or resolving vehicle issues is separate. I’ll explain what is needed if work cannot proceed.

Most $400 custom e-tunes include 8 revisions. Hardware or fuel changes, diagnostic work and additional revisions may require a revised scope agreed before work continues.

WRX/STI wideband logging and flex-fuel questions

STI & EJ WRX / WIDEBAND FAQ

Record the mixture.
Understand the result.

Why do I need a wideband if my Subaru already reports AFR?

A factory AFR reading or commanded fuel target is not a substitute for the external measurement I request for your tune. I use the wideband record to assess actual mixture with engine load, RPM and the rest of the log. Factory sensor behavior and the available channels vary by ECU and ROM.

Is an AFR gauge or a video of the gauge enough?

No. A gauge is useful for the driver, but I need recorded measurements that can be related to the engine log. A video or screenshot does not replace that data. Depending on the setup, this may mean an approved ECU input, a supported serial connection, or a separate logger with an agreed synchronization procedure.

Will a plug-in harness put wideband data into my COBB Accessport log?

Do not assume it will. iWire specifically identifies a post–Green Speed limitation for its AEM kit's ECU-input logging approach. That does not mean an external wideband cannot record independently; it means the harness, ECU input and current tuning software must be checked together. I confirm a workable method before you purchase a kit. See the COBB Green Speed guide and iWire's compatibility notice.

Which model years does the loggable wideband option cover?

The planned option is for 2017-and-earlier WRX/STI applications. This EJ section covers the 2002–2014 WRX and 2004–2017 STI within that range; 2015–2017 WRX applications need their own FA-platform fitment review. For 2018+ vehicles, contact me for a separate logging plan. Model year alone does not verify a harness or software connection.

Can you support my pre–Green Speed flex-fuel kit?

I review both existing legacy COBB configurations and compatible open-source/standalone setups. Send the exact kit, wiring, ECU/ROM and software details first. Legacy hardware support is not a promise that a current COBB software version can edit or use every older configuration.

Can I use Innovate or Zeitronix?

Yes, subject to approval of the exact controller and logging setup. Innovate LC-2 provides programmable analog outputs and a serial logging path. Zeitronix Zt-3 offers a configurable analog output and serial datalogging. Those features do not automatically establish compatibility with your Accessport, ECU input or logger. Confirm the complete kit, including its matching sensor and required interface.

What needs checking before the first full-load log?

Follow the manufacturer's installation and calibration instructions. Verify sensor/controller compatibility, power and grounds, sensor placement, warm-up, absence of exhaust leaks and the exact output scaling. Send a sample log first so I can check that the recorded value agrees with the controller/display. Do not substitute another brand's voltage-to-AFR formula.

Should I send AFR or lambda?

Use the units requested for your tune and identify them clearly. AFR displays depend on their configured fuel scale; do not assume an AFR number is directly comparable across different fuels or device settings. Keep the controller, gauge and logger settings consistent.

Do I remove a factory oxygen sensor or disable a fault code?

Do not remove required emissions sensors or disable diagnostics to make a logging kit work. Ask me and your installer to confirm a suitable sensor location and supported data path for the vehicle. An adapter harness does not establish emissions compliance.

What if I cannot provide usable wideband data?

Full-load remote fueling work waits until we have an approved measurement and logging method. We can discuss installation help or a dyno session with suitable instrumentation. Do not perform a pull just to see what happens; follow the instructions issued for your specific map and collect data only in appropriate, controlled conditions.

Planned wideband hardware packages

PLANNED HARDWARE / NOT YET FOR SALE

A complete wideband
logging package.

For 2017-and-earlier WRX/STI applications, I plan to offer Innovate- or Zeitronix-based packages that bring the controller, matching sensor, vehicle-specific wiring and logging instructions together. The aim is a clearly documented installation and useful data from the start.

Innovate-based package

LC-2 is a candidate for a controller-based setup. Exact controller, sensor, display options and logging interface will be selected and validated before release.

Manufacturer LC-2 documentation →

Zeitronix-based package

Zt-3 is a candidate for AFR/lambda logging with optional display arrangements. Exact hardware and compatibility will be documented for each package.

Manufacturer Zt-3 documentation →

Pricing, availability and fitment are not finalized. No preorders or universal plug-and-play claim. Before sale, each kit needs a verified vehicle/ECU/software matrix, installation instructions, output scaling, a sample-log check and a complete parts list. These are planned Tuned by Keith offerings, not an announced iWire partnership.
